Fire rebuild
Rebuilding after the fires? The yard comes back with the house.
- Pacific Palisades
- Malibu
- Altadena
When the house is coming back, the yard has to come back with it. We build the hardscape and planting around the new home, working alongside your builder and architect.

Hardscape and planting
What we build for rebuilds
- Concrete patios, walkways and steps
- Pavers and gravel near the house
- Stone and block walls, including hillside retaining walls built to engineered plans
- Drainage for new grades
- Planting plans drawn to scale, with lower-fuel plant choices and spacing
- Irrigation and low-voltage lighting
Materials
Noncombustible materials near the house
Concrete, stone, pavers and gravel are the materials fire guidance favors right around a home. We plan patios, paths, seat walls and gravel or stone borders for the first few feet around the house, then lower-fuel planting farther out, spaced to your fire department's requirements.
Planting plans
Planting plans drawn to scale
LA County Fire asks rebuilds in high fire hazard areas for a fuel modification plan, drawn to scale with plant names. We draw planting plans to scale for our projects and coordinate them with your architect and the fire department's review.

Local rules
Rules as of October 2026
-
State Zone 0 rules for the first five feet around homes had not taken effect as of October 2026. When they do, new homes and rebuilds are expected to be covered first, with existing homes phasing in over several years.

Requirements differ by city and change over time. We plan around your city's current rules and your builder's plans, and we recheck them before your project starts.

Questions
Things people ask before they call.
Will my new landscape pass the fire inspection?
We plan your hardscape and planting around your city's and fire department's current requirements and coordinate with your architect and builder. The inspection itself is the fire department's call, so we build to the approved plans.
Do you draw the fuel modification or planting plan?
We draw planting plans to scale for our projects. Whether your plan needs other professionals depends on your city and fire department, and we will tell you on the site visit.
When should we bring you in?
Before grading is final. Walls, drains and steps are cheaper to get right before the house is finished around them.
Do you work in Altadena and Pasadena?
Yes. We build across Pasadena, and in Altadena we take on fire rebuild landscapes. Call or text (805) 797-3346.
Let's walk the property.
Pick whichever is easiest. The office answers calls and texts Mon to Fri 7 AM to 5 PM and Sat 8 AM to 2 PM.
